After suspending sound works in MX7515- know why??

Hey Everyone,

My sound was not working on my mx7515, and I had tried a lot of the tutorials. Then, I remembered when I had been running a 64 bit version of Windows, I'd have to put the comp. into standby and then bring it out of standby and the sound would work (sorry for the lack of grammar). I tried this with Ubuntu 8.10 and sure enough the sound started right up. I'm don't know the ins and outs of computers well enough to know what could be different, and thought I'd ask the tech savvy people on here if they had a workaround or maybe an idea about where to start. Take it easy.
