Hi,

I am trying to choose between the Brother MFC-215C, Canon MP530, HP Photosmart 3210/3310, and Epson Stylus RX640. Should I steer clear of any of these 5 models? I never owned an All-In-One before! So I would really appreciate any advice on any model from any brand that works at least (near) perfectly with Linux. After all, there is no point in buying something with an excellent feature if it only works with Windows or Mac!

I have already checked the linuxprinting.org site but I want advice from users here too

Also, any experience with Turboprint? Does it really provide all the features that one would get when using an All-In-One (not just printer) with Windows?

Finally, is it recommended that I emulate the duplex feature on a printer that does not support duplex printing, by printing odd pages first and then even ones? Will this affect the longevity or performance of the inkjet in anyway?

after much pain I would say, Stay away from brother. Go to Google and type in "brother error 41" and read some. I Have a HP color laser and it works...ok. My best experiance with linux was Lexmark.

I am using a HP 3310 using the ethernet connection. Had it up and running in 2 minutes using the HPLIP package. http://hplip.sourceforge.net/ . I can print, scan, fax, and read the data off media cards plugged in. Reading media is slow on the printer. Printed to it using Bluetooth at one time just to play. Was a pain to setup but can be done. Also tried the wireless side only and works but one can't really have both a wireless and ethernet connection at the same time. But one can with a little hack on the net.
