Adding a new drive

I know there are numerous threads on this topic but I thought I'd try and get some instructions on my specific application.
I have an XP/Mandrake 9.2 dual boot on a 40G harddrive. I bought a new 60G harddrive to install. I want to put XP on the 60 and 9.2 on the 40. Clean installs on both.
So, I want to rub 9.2 installation to the "erase entire drive" on the 40. Will that take out the mbr (grub)? Then install XP on the 60 as the master. I would then use the 40 as a slave, correct? Then when I install 9.2. How will the mbr be set up to boot off each drive? Thanks in advance. Please don't assume I know anything. I will probably have a local shop install the drive and set-up XP. If there's a better way to do it I would appreciate the info.

Put in the 60 first (as master/hda) and install XP on it (or take it to a shop).

Install the 40 (as slave/hdb) and install Mandrake. When it comes time to install the bootloader (GRUB), install it on /dev/hda (ie the XP hard drive, aka "(hd0)" in GRUB terms). That way it will overwrite the windows bootloader.

Configuring the bootloader:
I think Mandrake will have a graphical wizard to let you pick the partitions to boot off. Set windows to boot from the primary (60GB) drive and boot Mandrake from the /boot partition on the secondary drive.

If you can't get the bootloader configured correctly with the wizard, I can probably put together a working grub.conf manually. Just make sure you create a boot disk in case something goes wrong.

Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I did and it worked out fine!
