Smile adaptec scsi install problem

Hello all,

I have a basic but current debian box and have just installed a pci card -adaptec scsi 39160 and seagate 34GB hdd.(just to be used as extra storage)

It all went well, showed in BIOS and the system booted. However the drive is not visible from my gnome desktop. Can anyone suggest a solution?

thanks
Paul

Sorry all, I think probably I need to identify the device and looking in the forums I found that this might be useful:

dmesg | grep scsi

probably need to mount it as well!

I'll come back if I don't progress.

thanks all
Paul
