Adaptec SCSI Card & Umax Mirage IIse
I just picked up a Umax Mirage IIse scanner for a steal. Does 11x17 both reflective and transparency.
Since I don't have any systems with SCSI cards and a graphical interface (all of the servers are CLI-only) I bought an Adaptec 2930CU SCSI card. All of this is on an OpenSuSE 10.1 box.
I turned the system off, installed the SCSI card, hooked up the scanner, and powered it back on.
Nothing. Nothing SCSI shows up in the Hardware Information, and the only thing in dmesg that refers to SCSI at all is "SCSI subsystem initialized". YaST doesn't detect any scanners.
Any ideas? I've never worked with SCSI scanners before - only SCSI disks and tape drives. I also have no experience with SCSI cards that aren't detected at boot.
If anyone could point me to a good HOWTO on this, that would be great. I'm happy to use something builtin to SuSE, but can do some manual work... if I can find good step-by-step instructions.
PS - The scanner is supposed to be supported well by the SANE Umax driver, and I was told the SCSI card will work with Linux.
Thanks.
