ACPI Standby/Sleep modes

I have a comp with ACPI installed. It is a Sony PCG F430 Laptop. I know it is capable of standby. (Pentuim III)

I have ACPI working (the power button triggers correct shutdown) but i have no idea how to make this thing standby or suspend. I am getting a new battery so i really need to know how i can do this. Thanks in advance.

Edit: I am running custom compiled 2.6.10 if it helps
