ACPI Problems with Asus P4B533 Motherboard

I've been having problems installing SuSE 9 on my system due to an ACPI problem. It seems that when I try to install SuSE I get a Kernel Panic which states: "Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount Root fs on 08:05
kernel BUG in header file at line 65
kernel BUG at panic :. C:207!

Kernel Panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
In interrupt handler - not syncing

I've tried to install it on my IBM SCSI U160 drive with a LSI Logic SCSI card....first I thought it might be the SCSI card, so I yanked the card and drive and installed a Barracuda 60GB Seagate ATA drive. But I get the same message.

What really freaked me out is when I tried to install WIN 2000, I got the blue screen with the same message about ACPI being not compatible or some trash like that.

Finally, I updated the BIOS on my Board.....and that's a negative ghostrider.

I really do not know what to do.
The curent setup that I have is:
P4 2.61Mhz, 1024MB DDR 2700
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
and the Barracuda 60GB ATA Drive

Can it be the RAM that is cousing the problem??????

Help

THanks,
SuSE Lova

And did you try all the.. "acpi=off.. old.. force.. on.." and all those nifty little options too? Oh, and the win2000 problem is simple. Its not gonna work. Microsoft even goes so far as to say you need XP for full implementations of Acpi... win2000 just isnt set up for all the nifty stuff it might be handling.

Yeah I tried all those options...If I use one of those it fully installs but then surprisingly a day later it gives be the same error.
I just looked up my motherboard specs and it does not seem like I can even disable the ACPI on the board....the BIOS are really useless on ASUS boards.

Please toss any other ideas my way....I'm willing to try anything.
Thanks,
SuSELova

I don't seem to be able to get this working at all. It did work fine with RedHat 9 on my SCSI U160....Anymore ideas ????

Yep. Next Step, fill out a hardware profile, bug report and assisance form at Suse.com and wait to see if they have a solution.
