ACPI controller not found

Hi, I am a new Linux user and am installing it for the first time. I have a brand new box I have assembled and it has a Gigabyte GA-8KNXP motherboard. I am installing RH ESLinux v4.

The install seems to have been successful (or so it appears), at the initial install reboot my machine locks up in the PCI device listings at the ACPI Controller and does not proceed past that point, no error message either.

This is what the screen looks like:

· This is a new system with nothing else installed.
Is this a BIOS setting problem or a Linux bug? Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated!

Some boards still have problems with ACPI. Try getting around the problem by passing the acpi=off option to the kernel at boot.

Found the fix

Hey, thanks for the input. After some more research it appears that if freezing at this point the system is not seeing the OS. I did some fiddling with BIOS and hardware configs and ultimately got it to work.
