acorp modem does not working

hi there
I have an acorp modem , after I inserted the device , redhat found an Intel 536EP device ! and added this device to my configuration (?)
I have make the symbolic link /dev/modem to /dev/ttyS0 , and in the network connections , when I try to add new modem , it says that it doesn't find any modems , but I continue with this , and when I try to activate that , it returns an error with 8 code.
in kppp it can query the ttyS0 ( and ttyS1 too ) , but returns nothing in ATI(s) boxes , and after that it initializes but stays in this situation , but nothing to dial

I tried : cu -l /dev/ttyS0 , nothing ...
I tried : echo atdt0917118655 > /dev/ttyS0 , still nothing

I don't know how to make this modem work

Regards
ArShAm

Important: If you have another OS installed (multi-boot), then it's not quite a good idea to configure your devices differently in the other OS. E.g. if you have MS Windows, make sure you use the same IRQ, I/O port etc.

Post your
Code:
dmesg
here, and also see what serial devices do you have:
Code:
cd /dev; ls ttyS*
Then post your
Code:
setserial
for each of the serial devices.
