Acer Al1511 15" Lcd Input Not Supported

Hello again all.

I recently purchased this beautiful 15" flat panel LCD and installed it on my PC last night.

It was autodetected and functions fine on Windows XP pro
but when I try to load up into X with the new configuration
a box saying
Quote:

INPUT NOT SUPPORTED
floats about the screen.

I've checked /var/log/Xorg.log.0 and there seems to be no errors while X
was starting...

I think this might be due to not having the right kernel video module loaded or something, but if ANY of you can find a solution to this problem please reply to this message, it's sort of urgent :(.

I just think that the monitor isn't supported and won't work until I purchase a new one, but any helpful feedback would be great.

Here's some specs that might be useful for you all:
  • AMD64 Athlon 2800+
    nVidia Geforce FX5200 w/ TV-out DVI-I
    512MB Kingston PC3200 DDR

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Probably your Hsync, Vsync or refresh rates are not compatible with your monitor.

You'll need to run the console based X config tool and choose some acceptable values (the manual for your monitor should have the correct values or someone else here a LQ can quote some defaults)

Thanks for replying okmyx :).

I did the command-line X config tool earlier, and it auto configed the Hsync/Vsync

it just has that INPUT NOT SUPPORTED box floating about
I've noticed other users on LQ have had the same issue on different distros and switching their distro fixed it
I'm running under linux-2.6.9-Gentoo-r14 kernel right now if that'll help assist you guys.

the autoconfig is getting it wrong, enter the values manually from the users guide.

OMG

Wow, I just tried using xorgconfig instead of X -configure to manually fill in the parameters
and wouldn't you know, everything works now....funny thing...

Anyways, thanks again all for trying to help me ;).
