Is it possible to access Windows XP NTFS with read/write access or can I only access NTFS with read access.
Would I be better running Windows XP on FAT32, which I think Linux will then give me full access, although I would then be restricted on file size, as I am currently doing alot of DVD authoring.
Kernel 2.6 has experimental write access to NTFS, though it comes with severe warnings that it could mangle your data. For now, just use read-only access.
Linux has no problems with accessing FAT32 partitions.

Thanks for that, although I'll have to install Windows XP again, as I don't think I can go back to FAT32 from NTFS!
Distribution: SuSE 8.2, SuSE 9.1 on desktop (besides W2K). SuSE 9.1 on notebook (besides XP).

With tools like Partition Magic or Paragon Partition Manager you can actually convert your partition - but be sure to backup your data first... just in case...
you don't have to reinstall XP. Just create a data partition formatted in fat32 that both linux and XP can access. It makes sense to separate the partition where your OS and programs are installed from where all your data is anyway (you'll have less fragmentation problems in windows and in case you need to reinstall windows, you can do it w/o having to wipe out your data on the hd with the OS).
