abit AV8 (KT800Pro) sound FC3

i am running an abit AV8 on FC3 x86_64 and cannot get the sound to work (no sound plays and autodetect fails to play sound, i also et random sound server failed messages) i recently updated the kernal to 2.6.10-1.741_FC3 in the hope that it would fix the problem; however it has not and i am at a loss as to what to do next as this should already be supported, if anyone has had the same problem or is running the same setup i would appreciate some help

What does /sbin/lspci show?

From the information that /sbin/lspci gives you, go to http://www.alsa-project.org/ and download ALSA. Then look for the sound chipset in the sound card matrix. Next read the documentation how to compile ALSA and to set it up. PCI sound cards are better than on-board sound. I suggest Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.

VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 60) is what is shown in and i have not had much success with alsa, i don't quite understand why my sound worked in FC2 but not my gigabit Ethernet,, now with the later kernel the Ethernet works however the sound does not
