I'm using:
OS: Mandrake 9.1
Sound Card: SB Audigy 2
Speakers: Creative Inspire 5.1

When I first install and boot up, I wasn't able to get the sound running, reading forums and chatting, people tell me to unmute and up the volume to hear it, but that didn't work.

For the most, unmuting and up the level should work, but in my case, I had to plug my headphone into the back of my sound card, to do alittle discovery, I discover that the sound comes out of another output than the 3 outputs ('in your face', fronts, and side speakers) that I connect to the speakers. I resolved it by using a Y splitter (radio shack!) make the two output connect to the same speaker.

Alittle word: I did some testing before, and its not recommended to have two of the "incoming" ends of the Y connector to be activated, use one or the other, in my case, mandrake uses one, and when I boot into windows (sic), it uses the other. Either way, all (5) speakers work on any output.
