I need to find a compatable graphics card to replace a S3 Graphics Pro Savage DDR Card. Machine had modem fried by lightning. Everything else seems to be working after replacing modem, but the monitor has ghosts tried another monitor and problem there also. Also tried reinstalling driver but didn't solve the problem.

Is this an AGP or PCI card, or is it on-board graphics? If the latter, then you may need to change some settings in your BIOS to deactivate the on-board graphics and edit your /etc/X11/xorg.conf (or XF86Config-4 if you Linux install is older), to reflect the change.

Otherwise, just get replace it with any card of the same type (AGP or PCI), which has a S3 graphics chip. Unlike Windows, Linux drivers are more general. For example, a particular Windows driver might support only Ati Radeon 7200 cards, while the Linux driver supports all Ati cards.
