6600GT performance/quality problem

greetings all! this is driving me nuts. i just recently installed a 6600GT in my computer and everything works fine except for the quality (i'm using Doom3 as a test).

my old card was a 9600XT Radeon and under windows (sorry for speaking of such blasphemy here ) i had an option to mess around with the "performace/quality" with a slider. when the slider was towards the performance side, the game would look very fuzzy/pixely and when the slider was over towards quality it would be crisp and clear. basically under Linux it looks as if that "slider" is towards the performace side and everything looks all fuzzy and pixely.

i KNOW that it's not a setting for the game as i have tried just about every graphic setting possible in it and it's still the same. i've tried everything to figure out what is wrong here and i have come up with nothing. i've posted at numerous forums (including nVidia related forums) and nothing has come up. this is the last place i can think of for help. any light shed on this topic would be greatly appreciated. "help me LinuxQuestions.org, you're my only hope..."

here are my specs for further help:

nVidia 6600GT
2.6.10 kernel
Slackware 10.0
newest nVidia drivers (released March 11th)

Why don't you enable FSAA and/or anisotropic filtering? Information on how to do this can be found here: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li...167/README.txt . See appendix E.

There's also the nvidia-settings program, try that out.
