56K Rockwell external modem driver

Hi,
I am using Redhat 9 as the OS & i am using Rockwell 56Kbps external modem. The OS detected it as a generic modem. I feel the speed of the connection is slow compared to the speed when i used the modem in windows 98 SE. Before i installed RHL9 i was using Windows 98 SE. I think a more device specific driver could enhance the speed. Could somebody help me locate the driver for this modem. I bought this modem in the year 2000.

Thank you

Ashwin

Hi - I am also using a Rockwell chipped External Modem (PT-3020) but I am recieving at 2x the speed as under Windows XP, typically 10.0-12.0 Kbs. The download setting is 115000 Kbs (? - the maximum setting anyway). Have you checked the speed at which the downloads are set at in kppp?

I am a newbie and found a 50 page manual (pdf download) at http://www-106.ibm.com/developerwork...aq/?nl=swalert to be very handy. It helped me fix my problem.
