4 in 1 card reader

I bought a 4 in 1 card reader, and have only been using it for compact flash cards, but recently I needed to get data off of a memory stick
to get data off of a compact flash card, i ran
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/cflash
i tried
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/ms
mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/ms
...
mount /dev/sda9 /mnt/ms
and got an error saying
"no medium found"
tired /dev/sdb1
/dev/sdc1
/dev/sdd1
and got an error saying
"/dev/sdx is not a valid block device"
can anyone help?
thanks

I doubt guessing the device will get you somewhere.

Plug in the device, then check your kernel log (type : dmesg ) to see what device it now uses. If the thing can have several partition, you might want to take a look at the partition table ( try cfdisk /dev/device _you_found or fdisk /dev/device_you_found ).
