32 bit compatibility with 64 machine


Hi,

i've just ordered a 64 bit desktop from dell and i've panicked. Will all of my 32bit applications run or do i need to cancel the order!?

AND64 machine? If so you can always install a 32bit version of a OS then it works in 32bit mode. If installing 64bit OS then I would suggest going to your distro of choice's website and reading the FAQ about their support for 32bit apps most things have been ported to 64bits and work fine.

hehe...64 bit from dell..I deliver dell computers here in .ie for a living, and their 64 bit range is the Intel 64.

But like Happy Tux says, most 64 bit distros would work fine with the Intel 64 bit systems, and all 32 bit OS's will work the same as they do on a 32 bit machine.
