2 problems- sound and printer

I have two problems with my linux slackware.

1:

I want to configure my Lexmark x605 printer, but there is no driver that I can find for it for slackware, does anyone have any suggestions or know of a driver.

2:

My sound has static in the background most of the time, sometimes it's clear. CD's work fine. And it will work fine if i use windows.

thanx in advance

Welcome to LQ. For your first question, I'd recommend Linux Printing

As for the static, that's trickier. Could it be a loose speaker connection? I'd suggest using the Search function here at LQ to find other threads on the subject; this question comes up from time to time and there are a number of discussions on how to deal with it. Good luck with it -- J.W.
