2.6.29.6 kernel - options for ide dvd-r/w support

Is a comprehensive list available of what kernel options must be enabled in order to have device nodes created for a IDE DVD-R/W drive?

CONFIG_IDE, CONFIG_IDE_GD, CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDECD are all enabled to no avail.

Booting to Slack's canned "huge" kernel causes the drive to show up under /dev/hda so I'd assume that I'm missing something in the custom build. I'll be darned if I can figure out what it is however.

Thanks!

Here's a link to some Kernel Configuration Recipes.
Look for IDE Disks and IDE CD-ROM drives.

Also, you should investigate whether or not Slackware defaults to scsi-emulation for ide drives. It's been in the kernel since version 2.26.20 or thereabout.

Hope this helps.

Great resource - thanks for sharing.

All that I was missing was a chipset driver.
