2.6.28 kernel gives thermal trippoint shutdowns on thinkpad x60
kernel: ACPI: Critical trip point
shutdown[5301]: shutting down for system halt
I get these and an error message about (128 degrees C) as my laptop shuts down under any even moderate usage.
I check the temperatures according to /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM0/temperature and they are around 70 or 80 degrees usually, not 128. But X60s run hot.
Kernels before 2.6.28 have not done this random thermal shutdown for me. Does anyone have a later than .28 kernel that doesn't have this issue?
Also "acpi=noirq" is no good because this basically kills usb functionality.
Also, brightness down key works but not up so maybe thinkpad acpi is just generally sketchy now?
