[Solved] CD's will only mount when computer is restarted

I am running Debian Mint on two different computers and both of them will not recognize a CD put into the disk drive unless I restart the computer. I tried installing "udisks-glue" and adding it to the list of startup applications, but that didn't work. What is wrong and what can I do to fix it?

You may have a problem with the udev rule for the drive. Do some web research on udev rules. There are tutorials, guides, and examples instructions on how to create/edit udev rules.

It isn't a major probramming job; just a text file edit.

Not sure, maybe try full load of new system for a test.

Might be a failing drive. I have had that case.

Are there different drives in each computer or an external you have tested with both computers. If it's an external and it doesn't work in either computer, I'm voting with Jefro.

Edit: You might try testing with a Live CD or (if it's an interal CD drive) USB of something or other, being sure to test with a known-good disc.

Hey, thanks for all your suggestions. I figured out the problem. I thought that I added udisks-glue to the startup list, but I didn't do it right. Now that I have udisks-glue running at startup, I can get my DVD drive to work just fine on both computers. Thanks again for your help:D
