Xtart and scroll mouse

Hello, I was using Xtart for a bit while I was trying to figure out which desktop I would go with; Gnome or KDE. During this time, I noticed a small issue, if I started X using startx my mouse worked as expected, which means X was configured properly, but if I ran Xtart the mouse woudl NOT work correctly. I looked through the script, but being unfamiliar with the language I lost.. Anyway I could not see where Xtart would be changing the which config file gets used.

Anyone familiar with this scipt have any idea how it might be screwing with my mouse definition?

I have since given up Xtart and decided to go with Gnome, but I am curious to try and read the script now, and I'd like to have a clue what I am looking for.

Thanks.
