Xserver configuration details

Hi there.

Please forgive me if this is in the wrong forum. Im looking for the xserver configuration details. When you install mainstream distributions, you have a choice of monitors, mice, keyboards and video cards. These choices get used to populate the XF86Config file with the relevant configuration data. I am looking for that configuration data.

The reason Im asking is because Im currently playing around with some ideas for my distribution. I need this information to create a decent setup program.

Will I be able to find this info in the sources or do I have to go somewhere else? Can anyone help? I have the XOrg 6.7.0 sources.

Thanks in advance
jken

Can you be a bit more specific as to what exactly
you're looking for?

Cheers,

In the XF86Config file, there are various sections corresponding to the hardware on the machine. Mouse, keyboard, monitor, video card. These sections have variable value pairs. And each hardware component has its associated valued for the different variables. Like monitor modelines for example or driver modules for video cards or device options like Z Axis mapping for 3-button mice. This is the information Im looking for.

Like I said before, major distros ask you which hardware you have and then fill these values into XF86Config for you. Some even autodetect your hardware.
