XOrg, intel onboard 865G and 1152x864. is it possible?

Hello all,

I have been trying to get a resolution of 1152x864 working on my system (Slackware 10.1) for 3-4 days now but in vain. I have an onboard 865G graphics with a Samsung 793MB monitor. This monitor can do a 1152x864@77Hz.

I have tried putting in modelines of various refresh rates ranging from 70-77Hz from http://xtiming.sourceforge.net/
I have also tried keeping only one resolution i.e. 1152x864 under screen section in xorg.conf but when I do this the X Server changes itself to nearest resolution of 1280x1024 but not to the desired resolution.

So now I want to know whether it is possible for i810 driver to do a 1152x864 or not? Has anyone ever been able to use this resolution with this driver? Please help. I will be really greatful.

Thanx in advance.
Regards.

I think the i810 should be able to handle 1152x864, but you may need to lower your color depth. Can you post your xorg.conf file? -- J.W.

thanx a lot for replying
i have tried reducing the colour depth as well as frequency (even to 60Hz) but both did not help. here is the relevant snippet from the xorg.conf. the whole xorg.conf is linked to in end.
thanx once again
