When I type startx it say:
Parse error on line 336 of section Monitor in file /etc/X11/xorg.conf
The VertRefresh keyword must be followed by list of numbers or ranges.

with less /etc/X11/xorg.conf this is what under Monitor section:

I need to know how I can edit the file from shell.
I have tried less :e /etc/X11/xorg.conf , but I can't quite figure it out.
I know I can use xorgcfg, but its confusing me, it would be easier be edit in txt mode.

Do Vi is a great editor and it is on pretty much every system, however it can be difficult to learn. It is mode based, so to start typeing hit "i" (minus the quotes) then edit your file. when your done hit esc to get into command mode and hit :x to save and quit, :q! to quit without saving.

The problem with your xorg.conf is you dont have values for your vertical refresh. Find the specs for your monitor (in your manual or online) and enter the correct values.
