Xen: To use simple file or normal disk partition

Hi guys,

I'm testing with RHEL/CentOS Xend to virtualize and for fully virtualized setup.

For assigning storage space, I have the choice of "simple file" or "normal disk partition". I am now testing with "simple file", trying to see if it is easy to backup and restore it...

but I can't help but wonder.. will I be getting a performance hit.. should I use normal disk partition?

What are you trying to do?

Does this have something to do with VMWare?

In Swakoo's post he specifically mentions Xen...so no; it has nothing to do with VMWare...

Hi guys,

any opinions?

Been looking at it.. does seem easier to backup a simple file "partition" than having a physical harddisk partitioning it...

but i worried about the performance/reliability etc...
