Xchat

Hi! I'm running redhat 9, and I've tried to use xchat, but something is definitely wrong. The window comes up , I click on connect, after a while I connect, but nothing comes up. I just have a black window with a lot of squares running across it in lines. If I type in /join [channelname], more squares appear running in lines across the dark screen. They almost appear as yellow, but they're very faint. The lines seem to appear as if they're the dialogue being typed, but they're still just boxes. Is there something I have to configure that I missed? I've tried the xchat homepage, and I've done google searches for how-tos, but I can't find any info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. By server, do you mean which irc chat i connect to? I highlight UnderNet and click on connect. The window changes and a bar moves back and forth until it connects.

Are you connecting to US or Europe? Does this also happen when you try to connect to a server in another network?

No matter which irc server I connect to, I just receive a lines of little square boxes on a black background. On UnderNet, I connect to USA. I'm connected, but even in the type message box, I can't see anything. Thanks.

Thanks everybody. I went to settings, and in the window section found a font box that wasn't checked. I checked it, applied, and voila----it works. Thanks again.
