Question X windows problems

i recently installed redhat linux 8.0 . The problem is i get wave like patterns on any window or menubar i try to open. For example if i open konquer browser i get wave like patterns which i hide both the menu and the window. but the desktop does not show this behaviour.
I use a cirrus logic 5430 card. this worked fine with the earlier versions of linux

Thanks in advance for the help

Looks like driver problem or settings issue. There may be something wrong with two parameters: VertRefresh and HorizSync (both are defined in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4). Are they set the same way they were in previous versions? If you don't remember, look into your monitor manual and check if the values are the same as recommended ones.

i think u have wrongly concluded that i never get a proper display. the desktop and its icons do not show any problems. but when i click the menu bar the menus are blurred . this is the same with any window i open . Certain applications like gnome terminal does noe show any problem.

is this just in kde or in gnome also? if so i would just uninstall and reinstall kde something probably wrong with kde-base you could download another copy of kde-base drop to telinit 1 and remove the old kde base and then install the newly downloaded package.
