X server settings not being saved...
Hello all.
I am not sure if this is the best place for my problem, but I am sure it is close enough and is probably a fairly straight forward problem... It all started a few days ago after I updated my system via yum. Since then my x server settings simply won't save. When I restart my system, it boots up OK. The problem is that it says it can't start my x server. It asks me to go through the display set up again and I do it, it says it has saved the file and made a back up of the old file, and then starts X fine. The system runs OK, but when I shut her down or have to restart it, the same problem. It won't start the x -server until I re-enter the display settings again, and then X comes up. It isn't a major issue obviously, but it is something I would like to see fixed. I am running Fedora 3 on a 900Mhz system with 256M of Ram and a 40G HD. The x-org log is above my head, but I didn't see any major warnings or problems in it. I will post it if it will help. Thank you all in advance for any help or suggestions that can be offered. This is a wonderful place for people to learn about Linux. Kevin |
