X configuring error

I took the plunge and have started to install Mandrake 9.0, and so far, once I followed instructions, things went as expected.

There is a problem with configuring X, where it gives me this error:

(EE) GARTInit: Unable to open /dev/agpgart (no such device)
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a useable configuration

sometimes, actualy all the time now, instead of the bottom line, I get:

(EE)I810(0): Ring buffer allocation failed

I have changed drivers, resolution, everything I can think of. I tried a google search, but couldn't find anything.

The computer has a motherboard with onboard video. The specs are:
Intel 82845GL Graphics Memory Controller Hub (GMCH)

I think that is the onboard video spec, not sure this computer that I am working with is an *shudder* Emachines, given as a warrenty replacement for a compaq *shudders again* both computers have given nothing but trouble.

Not sure, but I did manage to get it working, though it is only at 640x480 pixels, and 75 x 75 dpi.

So, I think that is indicative that it works with the kernal, though I'm not sure what kernal it is.

Oh, not sure if it matters, but X is Xfree86 4.2.1, patch level 3mdk

I have installed Linux on Acer, Dell, HP, and Emachines and got them all working. Just lucky I guess
