X-CD-Roast Trouble

I am running Linux Mandrake 7.2, and x-cd-roast will only detect my cd-writer, and not my primary dvd drive. This means that I have to copy the cd to the hard drive first, most annoying! Anyone have any ideas as to why this is? I can read both drives, although sometimes the dvd drive seems not to obey it's buttons, as if it is under control from something else?

Thats all the info I can give I'm afraid, but A.H.M.A.

yes, you'll most likely need to enable ide-scsi emulation for the source drive as well. i don't know why so many front ends only READ from scsi drives, but that seems to be the way it is. so open up /etc/lilo.conf and add an addtional hdX=ide-scsi where the other one already is. and then run "lilo" as root.

btw. PLEASE try some other apps. some people seem to find xcdroast really good, but don't stick with it until you've tried apps like eroaster, which are so so much nicer in my experience

speaking of eroaster....it configured and compiled fine, but when I try to run it I get this error message.
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/local/bin/eroaster", line 9, in ?
from main import Application
File "/usr/local/lib/eroaster/main.py", line 31, in ?
from gtk import GtkVBox, GtkNotebook, GtkFrame, GtkLabel, GtkHBox, GtkTable
ImportError: cannot import name GtkVBox

Dunno what the problem is, RH 8.0 btw.

sounds like you've got an old version of pygtk, or maybe none at all.

ive got problems too with all the cd burning packages ive tried.
e roaster comes up with convert error straight away. g combust just sit there doing nothing even though they look fine.
I've actually gone the whole hog and wiped out win 98, mainly because of problems.
system is now very stable with md9.0.
well pleased apart from unable to burn anything.
any ideas?
thanks
