WUBI problems
 

Primary OS: Win 7 Ultimate 64bit
original Ubuntu version: 11.04

I recently installed Ubuntu 11.04 inside windows and had installed all the updates etc... I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10 I said yes. It did its thing but when I tried to boot to it it said that H: was not accessible please put a disc in the drive. I realized that something had gone wrong and I booted to windows and tried to uninstall Ubuntu form my system but it did not work it again said that H: was not accessible and that I needed to put a disc into the drive. I then deleted the Ubuntu folder on C: and installed Ubuntu 11.10 inside windows again. Now under the boot menu I have 3 choices Windows, Ubuntu, and Ubuntu. I uninstalled Ubuntu 11.10 leaving windows, and Ubuntu in the boot menu. How do I get rid of the Ubuntu choice and revert back to just windows. Then I can reinstall Ubuntu 11.10 from scratch. The only other thing I can think of is to install Ubuntu 'alongside' Windows rather than 'inside' in the hopes that that will remedy the boot menu problem. I am not seeing any ill effects from having a dud boot menu choice but it is annoying my sensibilities like a tilted picture frame. Thanks

If you want just windows and the original boot loader then you usually have to boot to a windows dvd and fix it that way.

Wubi should allow you to use the programs in windows to add and remove. I think it should remove the loader at that time.

I have never like wubi.

If you system is pretty new then see if a virtual machine would suit your needs.
