Writing Scripts for Linux in Windows

Is it possible to write working bash scripts on a windows machine as below.

1. Write and save script as a text file in windows.

2. Rename file and remove the extension .txt

3. Transfer script to linux machine

4. Make script executable, i.e.

Code:
root@linux-system# chmod +x name-of-script
Will this work or does windows use a text format that is incompatable with linux bash scripts?

Any advice would greatly appreciated.

Its possible. And removing the .txt extension is not mandatory.

You might like to run your script through d2u to rid it of the spurious crap that Windoze seems to think is necessary in text files.

May I ask which host system you guys had the best results with?

I would like to use the live cd, but last time I couldn't copy & waste from FireFox to the terminal in XFCE.

I Tried with SuSe 9.2 yesterday and I got errors with the first program I tried to build.

I would think that the live cd would be the purest host.

Let me know
