the problem is this: with the use of redhat 7.2, you'll get an included version of wine. Now the problem goes as follows: when I try to start wine (with the command winelauncher) , he asks to configure wine. I try to do that, but then he says he can't find winesetup in /opt/wine/bin. I search for this file in other directory's (with find -name winesetup as command) but I can find nothing of such a file. Then I try to install a wine package which I got from www. codeweavers.com, but then I got wine conflicts with .. (and then the package name). Btw, its the same version! I can't uninstall the other pachage etc etc. Plz help me, how can I let wine work?????
Thnx for helping me out, but the problem is still the same.
You see, the wine version that I got was given with the redhat 7.2 release which means I didn't install it manually. Now I tried to upgrade the wine version (as you said) but the wine version that I downloaded was the same version that was given with the 7.2 release. (20010626-4 version) Upgrading is not an option I think. Then I tried to erase the included version in redhat first and then offcourse, install the same version from codeweavers (with the winesetup included). But offcourse, it figures, he can't find this version. Can someone plz help me, or do I have to accept redhat as winblows? ("can't beat it, just learn to live with it" approch?)
now try this: delete manually the directory .wine from your home directory, if it is not visible from the menu select view hidden files. ok then just delete it. after that delete every folder that you have which is related to wine (only). now reinstall you downloaded version. now it must work( i have suse 7.3, and wine from codeweavers works perfectly) just to tell you that your version of wine is not problematic.
I have downloaded the following => winsetuptk. Now I have a winesetup and a wine.conf. The only thing now is to get some program to work under wine, but hey, that's something for tomorrow
hey!
I have the exact same pblm with wine and rh7.2. I need a little hand-holding for the resolution of this issue. I am missing the same setup file - where did you find, how did you install, etc???
TIA
Well look for winesetuptk on the internet (actually, I have forgotten the url where i got it, think its also codeweavers). But, you will certainly this setup if you use the google searchengine (www.google.com).
Btw, use this setup in graphical mode and NOT as root, you'll have to use an common user account for this. Otherwise, it won't work.
PS. After I used this, I still can't get a single windows program to work. (wine gives a bunch of errors). If you get it fixed, could you plz announce that, so that I have a solution?
I just got lotus notes to work, but we are ditching it now.
All I did was install wine and then make a folder like this
mkdir ~/.wine
it helps if the wineserver daemon is running, that way you can run .exe files directly from the command line.
You cannot install office 2000 because it needs the windows installer, you will most likely have to have windows on a single drive with it installed and then image it exactly over to your wine-c folder.
