Wine

Well, i've got wine installed and to test it i just tried to fire up notepad.exe. No dice. Got this error:

[cheese@jihad-75h6sw75s bin]$ ./winesetup
[cheese@jihad-75h6sw75s bin]$ wine notepad.exe
Invoking /opt/wine/bin/wine.bin notepad.exe ...
Could not stat /mnt/ntfs/WINNT (Permission denied), ignoring drive C:
Invalid path 'C:\WINNT' for windows directory: does not exist
Perhaps you have not properly edited or created your Wine configuration file.
This is (supposed to be) '/home/cheese/.wine/config'
Wine failed with return code 1
[cheese@jihad-75h6sw75s bin]$

Does wine not work in 2k? not support ntfs? or is my config file just not right?

in most cases Windows filesystems when sharing and mounting them are read only.. that might be the problem which would keep you from executing.....

wine creates a virtual machine to run windows apps on. you're read write probelms are not wine's concern. you're on ntfs so naturally, you can't write to the drive. bit of a brick wall, but oyu should be able to copy the required files to somewhere else and point wine to them.next time, DON'T use ntfs if you want a dual boot system
