windows media player does not work in linux


i have redhat 9.0. i am not able to play songs in windows media player. do i need to configure or mount something.

when i try to play .mp3 or .wav songs, it says incompatible format.

Your help is highly appreciated.

Windows Media Player is a Microsoft program and they don't support Linux. Use xmms from the link below as mp3 is a propriatory format and Red Hat doesn't support it out of the box.

Thank for your help.

I have installed RedHat 9.0 and media player was a part of the package while installing redhat.

i may have misspelled as windows media player, but it ws xmns as you have specified.

do i need to configure something?

Just install the rpm(s) for your release.
