Windows Install and Boot Loader

I have a dual boot with SUSE9.3 (default, of course) and WindowsXP . I'd like to upgrade WindowsXP to WindowsXP_64, but I'm afraid that the installation process can remove or alter, in some way, the linux boot loader. Is it possible? If so, how can I solve the problem ? thanx in advance.

Yes, if you re-install windows it will overwrite the MBR. After install use your Linux install CD, recovery mode, and re-install grub or lilo. Seach LQ, this has been answered many times. Also dd will make a copy of it for you. You can use boot.ini to do it too.
