You may need to use the NT loader to boot up into Linux. Google for NT Linux Lilo Boot Howto. There will be plenty of howtos which explain how to do this. Basically, they involve installing lilo to the linux partition instead of the MBR, copying the first 256 bytes of the partition to a file on the C:\ drive, and adding a line to c:\boot.ini. Sounds a little complicated, but it isn't really. If you have a laptop with a small hidden partition before the NTFS partition, then lilo may install OK without doing this.
