Will dual graphics cards work?

Hello all. I hope someone can help shed some light on this subject for me. I have a box running Ubuntu 8.04 64bit and a windows box on which I need to upgrade the graphics card. I would like to add this card from my winbox to my linux machine which already has the same model card in it.
My question is, would it work to put 2 ati fire gl cards (one already there, one from winbox) in my linux box and will it improve my performance? Thanks!

You can have two graphics card and connect monitors on all of them. That's not a problem.

But for the sound of your post it seems like what you intend is to use both chips as if they were one to increase performance. That's plain impossible due to the architecture of the hardware. Plus you are probably speaking of two AGP cards, and your mainboard probably has only ONE AGP slot only.

Yes I was wondering if increase in performance was possible and thought it might not be physically. Thanks for the answer. Also, my cards are pci express and I have at least two slots for them on my mobo. Thanks!!
