The merits of using Unix are .... uh... i mean... compared to linux .... they are... uh.... well, it is better than Windows. Honestly, I have never found a reason to use FreeBSD or Solaris in place of Linux that Linux couldn't already do. Still, OpenBSD fans like the unbreakable security of it. But, I really dunno.

The first time i've tried LInux was about 3 months ago, and i heard from a few friends that it was really good to use. so I figured I would give it a shot. The installation was so simple, and when i first got on i was amazed. Since i've first tried it, i tried Mandrake, and RedHat, and i'm looking into trying a few others, just to see which would most suit my needs. From what i've used now, though, i really like RedHat 8.0.

Zerodark: Good for you. Learn the command line interface; Learn to compile, build and install from source, and learn some shell scripting and you'll be well on your way. You'll sit there and go "now, why did i ever use windows?"
