Why the comand mv so slow ?

Hi everyone,

somebody can tell me, why when I use mv for movie files, from a directory in flash memory (/tmp/...) to a directory in SDRam (/mnt/card), it is very slow?

When I make mv /tmp/*.tmp /mnt/card/mydir and in /tmp there are 18 files to be moved, size each file 1 Mbyte, the response time is two minutes for to movie 18 Mbyte ... very slow!

Another method for moving file?

Enviroment
Linux embedded kernel 2.6.22
board : toradex colibri PXA270 312/520 MHz

Thanks in advance.

Save

PS : I'm italian i apologize for my mistakes

probably your transference speed is not that high.

in the end, mv actually copies the data.

If you are moving to the same partition/drive, it changes the FS table.

If you are moving to a different partition/drive, the files are copied to the new drive and deleted from the old one.
