Why is samba PDC setting users as guest

Can anyone tyell me why my samba server would be running all my logon scripts etc as required, but wont let users log in as administrators.

It seems to automatically set the users as guest and locks out all my XP users from being able to install any software etc.

Can anyone help me>?

Hello,

Samba has no info of Windows 2000/XP Local Accounts.
it only understands the samba users and its password.

Also windows XP does not understant or have knowledge of samba domain users on the samba server. You can always login as root in domain but than also you will not have the administrative rights for the windows XP box.

One thing what you can do is select one samba account and add it to each windows XP workstation's Administartors local group.
You will need to do this per workstation .

Thanks

User is Admin but still wont work

So if i setup a new user on XP "foo"

And then create a user in samba "foo" how do i initiate a command to add a user to a group.

Domain = admin

what would the syntax be to add a new user in that group, and also to add an existing user to that group?

Currently my users on XP is listed as a local admin, and i have changed my Domain admin to match this users linux group, but to no avail, however i'm using a purpose built dist, so it may be a prob in that.

An ideas?

thanks
T.

samba

hi,

Please try this way, i think it will help you
1. select any user say "foo" from samba list
2. now on XP create the same user
3. add this user as administrator user in XP , this option you get while you create the user.

thanks
