Hmm... Maybe instead of all those thousands of lines of output, you could replace them with a status bar? That'd help make compiling easier on the eye

If windows has a beter way to do something [ATTN rabid linux fanboys notice I said IF] I see no reason not to take advantage of it on another OS unless there are legal ramifications. Same goes
for OSX, BSD, BeOS, and other operating systems. If its an improvement, its an improvement.

I agree as you say-provided there's no legal issue. In the mean time yesterday I install Mandrake 9.1 over WinXp in my office and its working fine. But on doing the same thing at home my system CRASHED for no apparent reason. Just after booting from CD it asked whether I would like to install Mandrake, I pressed Enter and for few moment it was booting but then it was all. A red screen with lots of mumbo jumbo appeared. The last line was "it is safe to abort istallation"

I ejected the CD-1 of Mandrake and restarted, now' without inserting the CD-1. The OS booted from HDD0, the WinXp welcome screen appears and then the SYSTEM RESTARTS ON IT ON.

To recover my datas I tried booting from my WinXp CD and repair but no success the current OS was not recognised. Still I tried to istall fresh copy of WinXp at my C drive ( I've two HDD partitioned into C,D.E & F. On C winxp , On E Suse 9.1 Personal I intended to install Mandrake in place of SuSe) since in any case most of my datas were at D & F drive. But here also the system installation stops midway.

I am confused a lot and bit angry with myself, since I had'nt taken any backups. Is there any way out? And, why didn't Mandrake Install ? Just the other day everything was fine with Suse & WinXp but now the prob??
