Why do you love Linux?

I mean Love, like it very very much than windows & MAC OSX.
I believe some people hate windows, because it has many problems of viruses, crashes, instability when run many applications.
People said they but iMAC because MAC OSX is much more stable than windows, Windows 7 will even crash sometimes.

For linux users, why do you particularly choose linux?

It's a bit fscking sad if someone could ever say that they literally love software...

I love my wife and kids, not code.

wasn't this same question asked just recently? (with numerous answers given)
Infact, i remember it being merged with another thread..

Love is not only for human beings, you can love watching movie, listening to music, eating particular food etc. :D

teebones 01-16-2011 07:04 AM

That's another type of Love, thus not the same. ;)

Love is a common work, basically means your feeling of admiration.

ontopic i don't really remember why i switched to linux .. guess it's good for my mind and learning , but i think i'm gonna get win 7 on my PC and virtualize linux .. virtualbox FTW!

I would rather be obsessed with something. It's more intense.

Love is a type of insanity that returns positive emotions. I loved Madriva. It pissed me off when I had to 86 it. "Damn French Union breaking Scum!" Fedora 13 has been good to me but I'm not in love with it. It's not cuddly like Mandriva.

No matter how, I still feel that Windows is better than linux, except the problems of virus/worm.

eSelix 08-14-2011 08:20 AM

But "better" in what exactly? Maybe it better suits for your needs, or better supported by software and hardware producents, but a whole - it is precarious, because I "feel" opposite :)

TobiSGD 08-14-2011 08:28 AM

If an OS is better for you has nothing to do with feelings, but with facts. Want to play games or run Windows only applications? Run Windows.
Want to run a modern system on a low spec computer or run a very customized system or control all aspects of your OS? Go for Linux or one of the BSDs.

Has nothing to do with feelings, you don't choose a saw to drive in a nail because you feel so, you choose the tool that gets the job done the best way.
That is why I chose Linux, I can run it on any machine, customize it to my needs and control every aspect of it.
