why acrobat reader do not suit to RH9

I have successfully installed the "Acrobat Reader 5.0.8" linux version. however. when I try to run the binary file acroreader(I typed ./acroread). one line of warning message appears as below:
Warning: charset "UTF-8" not supported, using "ISO8859-1".
Aborted

what does that mean and can I do?

if you're trying to read documents in chinese or korean, etc... i think you need those font packs. you can get them from adobe. i'm not sure this is your problem though, but it doesn't hurt to install them. but a personal commentary, i didn't like acroread one bit. i'm using either xpdf or kghostview for pdf viewing. anyway, i'm just rambling on here.

I do not want to read or write Chinese characters I just want to run it properly, but I have encountered this problem which is really upsetting.

A1: If you are using RedHat 8.0 or later, edit /usr/local/Acrobat5/bin/acroread as root, and add the following below the first two lines of the file:

LANG=en_US
export LANG

A2: If you are using Mandrake 9.x, edit /usr/local/Acrobat5/bin/acroread as root, and add the following below the first two lines of the file:

LC_CTYPE=C
export LC_CTYPE
hmm... this has been touched on here before too.

I have added the two lines and the problem has fixed, thanks a lot!

I can't stand xpdf and Kghostview... about the only thing I don't like about Acroread is that my mouse wheel doesn't seem to work in it for scrolling for some reason. Other than that, it works fine for me.
