Which media player is best for MP3's?

I have XMMS, and Kaboodle in Mandrake, but neither of them sound that good. Both have lots of static and fuzz. What media player do you guys usually recommend?

do you think by getting another app that the problem is going to go away ? if you try two apps and have the same outcome, then i would investigate further, rather than trying to use a different app ... maybe you got crappy drivers for the sound card, or maybe your sound card isn't that good, or maybe the output device your using isn't the proper and/or best one to use ...
so what i am trying to get at, i wouldn't blame the player, i would try to troubleshoot this some other way ...

Its only like that in XMMS. It sounds fine in everything else, even the built in player that starts when you mouse over a file. I really didnt like Kaboodle since you couldnt do a playlist in it. I think its a problem between XMMS and my system, since it is only happening in XMMS.

Give Zinf a try and see if that works any better for you.

Or check the audio plugins in xmms, maybe they're not set right?

I tried that, as that was the first thing I thought about. Is there a Musicmatch for Linux?

well your going to have to make up your mind d00d, you said here that both do the same thing, and then you turn around and say its only xmms ... anyways, you ask for an alternative so here you go :

zinf
winamp
gqmpeg
snackamp
mplayer
xine
