How do you mean, "you didn't have any other option" ?? Have you searched the forums here for similar threads? There are indeed MANY of them about which distro is better for this or that reason. It's more a subjective opinion you will get from many users who favor certain distros over other ones.
It all depends what you want to do with it, how much time you have to learn how to use it, how much patience you have, and how much hardware you need to work right out of the box.
Using the links on the right side of this page, you can see many reviews of various distros, including MANY users reports of how their distro works, and why they like it.
Also, check out www.distrowatch.com. Google is also invaluable.
Besides, if you are a 'little expert' with Linux, you are surely quite capable with a web-browser , so it's difficult to believe you were/are unable or confused, trying to figure out which distro you want to install.
Good luck!
Once again, Distrowatch is a place to look. Once you have decided, how about asking or searching for threads concerning the installation, maintenance and customization of those to find out how exactly to go about it.
Another thing, I have used Linux for 3-4 years now, others here have used it since Linux was literally invented, but I have never heard anyone on here profess to be a 'little expert', and I never will. In fact, I don't fully understand the meaning of that term...
I found kubuntu very user-friendly as my first linux distro. If you've never used it give it a shot(or ubuntu with gnome, it depends on whether you prefer gnome or kde).
This is the distro I use and recommend, Why because it works right out of the box. No need to configure Everything, everything just works. It also comes as a 1 CD install that is a live CD that you can install later if you wish.
jacook;
I'm thinking that you have an automated system which detects "which distro" threads and automatically posts this message... (Not a bad idea, actually)
Anyone notice we've lost the OP?? Probably too much flak over the "expert" thing....

wow... so many attacks on me, let me b clear i mentioned "LITTLE EXPERT" just to tell u i am not a newbie in linux tats it and dont make such a stupid thing a big issue... ok, and how the hell can i search so many threads, i cannot spent hours looking at all the forums ... for just one problem.
How comes a Linux expert thinks Solaris is a Linux flavor?
u misunderstood me, i am not EXPERT but a LITTLE EXPERT, k i agree solaris is not a linux flavor now wats the big deal about it. i just included it becoz its one among the good OS.
Your posting history back in September is not consistent with your "expert" status. (You dropped out of sight after several folks tried to help you)
Start with any distro in the top ten on the "hit list" at Distrowatch
hello mister wat crap r u talking, if a person does not post tat does not mean he is not a expert, even if i post after a year it has nothing to do with EXPERT status, so dont get pissed off for posting after a long time. and secondly i didnt find time to log in and thanks for ur help.

It's really up to you. If you can't afford some time and effort to clear things for yourself in OSS world ... then there are ready-to-use solutions - for money. Mac OS X is pretty good, never heard of Microsoft?
