hi

i just installed various linux distros using reiserfs , ext3 and XFS file systems
i have been finding reiserfs and XFS better thatn ext3 journalled FS
but i have not been able to compare XFS and resiserfs
would like to know more of ur experinces..

Definitely choose either reiser or XFS as they both do better than EXT3

That said, one is better for large files(larger than 4GB) like dvd rips and one is better for small files, say like all my MP3s.

I don't remember off my head, but I think reiser is better for the small files. Either one should do the job though, and if this is a poll to see what we all use, i'm a reiser fan myself

I read a web-page that compared 4 or 5 file systems. The main gist of the article was that XFS and JFS were better for servers that need high throughput. But that Ext3 and ReiserFS were better at recovery from improper shutdown and so were better choices for desktops and workstations.
