I use both the only problem would be uploading documents, most sites won't accept .docx only .doc even though they state they do, I love playing with Ubuntu 14.04.

I installed Red Hat 9 in 2003. I bounced around using various RPM based distributions for several years, and settled on Ubuntu a few years until they went to Unity. Since then, I've used Linux Mint.
I have Virtual Box from Oracle installed, and Cross Over Office from Code Weaver. Quicken 2009 in installed with Cross Over, and Windows 10 Pro is installed on Virtual Box. I only use Windows 10 occasionally when I have problems getting a particular font or format to appear as I like with Libre Office. I'll fire up Windows to complete the project, and then it lies idle until time to do income taxes. I would guess that cumulatively I only have Windows running less than 3 weeks total during an entire year. And as I have been writing less over the last couple of years, even that amount of time is diminishing.
I can't imagine myself using anything other than Linux for my primary OS. Why would I?

I have W7 Ultimate dual booted with Spatry's Cup of Linux [MCOLE] which is his spin on Manjaro. I prefer the KDE desktop.

Anyway I am sick of Microsoft's tactics and policies so that is why I am trying to learn Linux so that I can leave Windows behind, but I have problems with Linux (especially the command line stuff) so I have to use W7 a lot. But I totally will use Manjaro online only once W7 loses it's security updates come 2020.

I may keep the W7 OS as a dual boot but only use it off line if I can not get programs to do what all I need to do by that time. But If I can get enough programs to cover what all I do I will have a Dual Boot with Manjaro and perhaps Android if and when they get it out of the Beta stage and leave Windows in the dust.

But to answer the poll I have W7 as my main OS for now, but that will change as stated I am only using it now while I make the transfer to Linux.

And Crippled I totally agree with you about how using the command line is like starting a motor with a hand crank instead of with an electric starter. And this is the main reason that Linux is just a nitch in the computing world. And until they get this they will always be just a nitch in the OS world. GUI is where it is at as far as with the masses, and is the specific reason that the Linux developers will have to get a grip on in order to put Windows out of business. So yes the Linux programmers are going to have to decide if they only want to make the OS light enough to run on old machines antiquated machines with minute resources or if they want to put Windows out of business once and for all.

I would have already ditched Windows back when Microsoft ditched XP but Linux was not ready for me at that time, yet I fully hope that they will be by 2020 or my main OS will be OS X. But what ever happens know that W7 is the last Windows OS that I will install, as I refuse to go to W8 or W10. To hell with where Microsoft is heading and I refuse to follow.

Almost exclusively, I use Debian Jessie! Although on Debian I have VBox 5.0.20 in which I test all kinds of OSs!
I run Windoze7 in VBox for those rare times I need Windoze! When the "Evil Empire" MicroSoft introduced Win8 I QUIT!! Never again will I use Windoze as my primary!!

Windows does get on your nerves, has the windows installer been brought back so you can dual boot? NOT wubi but windows installer?

Gave up on Windows switched to Mint for my laptop which is my main computer.
No more "your system needs updating" Your computer needs to be replaced with newer.
Still learning but 20+ yrs of Windows will take some time for me to catchup with Linux.

I dual boot an Alienware desktop, originally 64 bit Windows 8.1 pro(now Win 10) with 64 bit Slackware 14.1 using LILO as boot manager. Don't see how an OS could "corrupt" a motherboard. Maybe the motherboard has a hardware fault?? The M$ licence will be written to firmware but shouldn't affect the operation of the motherboard.

I have a dual boot desktop with Win 10 pro 64 bit but spend most time on my old laptop 32 bit slackware 14.1.

I have Windows on several of my computers via multi-boot, but I probably boot into it once a year. I use Linux all day every day.

Before I was laid off, I had to use Windows at work.

I love Fedora 23 on desktop!!!

I have Linux Mint 3 on 3 computers... Windows 7 on 1 computer... I use Linux Mint 99% of the time...

I use linux on everything....

But I have some brilliant legacy progs - like Microsoft Office Pro 2003, Chess Master and a few other things, that are a real prick / won't run under Linux...

So they continue on in XP.


I am also tired of the virtual machine stuff with the usual half baked guessing games type instructions.

I consider Ubuntu as my Primary, specifically Kubuntu.

After my studies I was interested in SCO UNIX during 1994
From 2002 onwards I have been using Linux as my primary OS
In the beginning I was using Red Hat and then used Fedora and tried various distributions and at last came into Linux Mint. Still Mint is my primary OS
